Did race play a part in Beyoncé not receiving any CMA nominations? Her father seems to think so...

Moral of the story? It is very much possible “mainstream” country music has become a genre seemingly caring more about the race of artists than their artistic impact. At this point, should we even care? We already knew what time it was when Beyoncé received racist backlash after performing with the Dixie Chicks at the Country Music Awards in 2016.

Beyoncé's father Mathew Knowles has expressed his disdain with the Country Music Awards after her history making album "Cowboy Carter" received zero nominations last week. The former music executive feels race played a factor, but isn't calling it racist.
