Halle Bailey’s acceptance speech at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood reveals why she made the decision to keep her pregnancy and baby away from the media. 

“There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy,” she said. If you feel “lied to” or “gaslit” about Halle keeping her pregnancy a secret, that says more about you than it does her. Pregnancy, specifically, is so fragile for a mother and child. It was in fact the worst kept pregnancy secret in history.
