Beyoncé's new album ‘Cowboy Carter’ is projected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 350k (Sales Plus Streaming) units (via Hits Daily Double). These are decent numbers. However, they would have been fantastic numbers for a lower tier artist. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't expecting her to crack the 500K mark at least. I was not expecting her to do Taylor Swift numbers. But it's worth noting that ‘Cowboy Carter’ recieved so much hype, celebrity endorsements and critical acclaim that the figure doesn't quite match all that hoo-ha surrounding the project.
Much like Renaissance, 'Cowboy' didn't cost the label anything really! No marketing budget, no recording budget, no video budget, nothing to recoup!
ReplyDeleteExcuses! Beyoncé’s name makes headlines for almost everything and anything. Beyoncé is idolized by many, she should be her own promo and not have to depend on others because of how much hypes her name carries!
ReplyDeleteTaylor Swift had Universal Music marketing budgets & CBS/NFL backing to promote her projects.
DeleteColumbia Records spends more money on Chloe Bailey's videos than they have done in terms of anything Beyonce related! Beyonce just drops her projects, whether music or film & Sony/AMC spends NOTHING
It should also be noted the physical copies aren’t available in the stores yet
ReplyDeleteThey did underestimate her first week sales of Renaissance in their first projection. I say she comes close to 400k once all is said and done. Maybe something around 390-410K.
