It's been three (almost four) years since Normani announced her debut solo album. She teased new music on the red carpet at the Sundance Film Festival, last night. “The singles have changed, you guys won’t know what’s coming,” she said noting that the project will be out “this year.” She continues, “It’s literally the best music that I’ve ever made. I know that once it comes out, you guys are going to be like, ‘Ok, the wait was definitely worth it.’”
Oh? And after that "first" single drops and charts low again, she will only disappear once more for a few years. Rinse, repeat. Much of today's pop artists that have emerged in the last 5 years don’t have even a fraction of the talent or work ethic as those in the 90’s and early 00’s. Poor management, budget cuts and a lack of investment in recording artists across the music industry as a whole serves as a contributing factor as to why many artists fail. And sadly, Normani is placed in that bracket. It's not an artists fault that they don't seem to have a good support system or funding to back them up. Labels are giving less actual promo and are instead relying on artists to promote their sh*t on TikTok. The labels have grown lazy and we are now living in an era where old-school promotion is considered more costly. The ways in which music is consumed has changed drastically.
