Doja Cat’s predicted album sales for ❝Scarlet❞ *crickets*
Doja Cat's album sales aren't living up to the hype despite her countless publicity stunts and a #1 single. The sad reality is, if you disrespect your kittenz and tell them to go get a job, that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to use their hard earned wage to buy your music. Her new album, ‘Scarlet,’ is projected to only sell 50,000-55,000 units and that is with SPS. So without the SPS, the numbers would have been even more tragic. The project is expected to land between #2 and #8 on the Billboard 200 and marks a 51% drop from the 109,000 of her last album, ‘Planet HER.’ Damn. Did her label cut back on the payola or something?
Well I actually like the album and I’ll say this. It’s not how you start it’s how you end. I just don’t believe she’s an artist that’s going to have a big first week sale. But she always shows up in the end with sales so we’ll see. Either way the material is def there
She never has big opening numbers however her albums always have longevity and she always push her eras with visuals and live performances. The album is dope and has other songs that can keep the gp interested in the project.
Good! Fuck this self hating bitch. It's beyond me why she has any support and especially from the Black community. She literally made a song called "Dindu Nuffin", which is a term that racist white dudes on 4 chan and other alt-right communities know. I'm sure she picked it up from one of her various racist white boyfriends.
The album was subpar at best—it lacks the catchy hooks her previous albums had in my opinion, so this project isn't for me. Also I'm not too keen on Doja as an individual as she is playing with fire with her clumsy PR stunts. However Doja has a quite a solid fanbase, who knows how long her album will chart.
I think it some of it comes down to the genre of music for Scarlet. It's just not 'in' right now. The general public, not including her ex-kittenz, aren't into this type of music. I know she broke the dry spell of there being no hip hop hot 100 number 1, and that's something to be proud of. I was expecting there to be more melodic songs, with hooks, I guess songs that lean more towards pop/rnb. If she had a few more songs like Agora Hills, maybe the album would have done better. It's not a bad album. I don't mind it but some songs are super forgettable. It doesn't hold much replay value.
I like the olskool hip hop consistency to it. Might be a grower but nothing really jumps out as a fave sans Paint The Town.

ReplyDeleteSo we can all agree that the album just isn't radio friendly.
