It is often asked why Jennifer Hudson never got the career Beyoncé got. Jennifer is an amazing and powerful vocalist but unlike the ever reinventive Beyoncé, she lacks versatility. Her singing technique can be quite jarring sometimes. She is loud for the most part, and doesn't wait for the build-up. On top of that, she doesn't get laced with good songs but we know she is much more than just a Whitney Houston tribute act. This week, Jen took her fans down memory lane by sharing her American Idol audition video that launched her EGOT winning career. Hard to believe this audition occurred 20 years ago. Where did the time go?!
It was on this very day in 2003 that my best friend @wallybean1 and I traveled all the way to Atlanta, Georgia for my American Idol audition ! 20 years, yal! Look at God !! I hopped on that American Idol roller coaster and it has been going ever since ! I’ve lived a lot of life… pic.twitter.com/g0sGJ7CROF

She wasn’t giving the right material that would made her stand out. The material she had wasn’t necessarily bad just lackluster,I think she just needed a really good A&R because she’s definitely had the public attention from the Oscar win & from American Idol
ReplyDeleteShe did pretty well for herself, but indeed it could have been muchhh better
ReplyDeleteWell, I never liked her but she has a strong voice and talent. And I never ever forget the year she crashed Beyonce's work in Dreamgirls and picked all the attention and Oscar that Beyonce wanted for herself. It was long time ago but I remember.
ReplyDeleteMusically they didn’t know how to market her along with the crappy material she was given. But I gotta say the JHud album was pretty good and I enjoyed it she showed restraint but it was already too late nobody wasn’t checking for her musically.
