Why Beyoncé’s $24 million Dubai performance next month is actually a BOSS move...

Not only is Beyoncé a self proclaimed feminist, she is a pop culture icon. Perhaps one of the largest of this generation. Not helpful since she's the scapegoat for being seen as tone deaf to the theories and histories of the feminist movements she claims to be a vanguard of. 

Beyoncé will reportedly perform for a bunch of rich people at a Dubai hotel next month for a super cool $24million. Of course her decision to do this is being questioned. Dubai is mostly known for its lack of rights for women and LGBTQ+ people where homosexuality is punishable by death and women crucified for being raped. $24 million for a one hour performance is not a figure many pop singers would walk away from... but Beyoncé and Jay-Z are billionaires among themselves. The question that's being asked is WHY does she need the money when her upcoming 'Renaissance' tour will most likely gross half a billion dollars anyway? A lot of people work for Beyoncé and she runs Parkwood Entertainment as a Private company. In order to keep her Parkwood employees in a job and generously paid, the income needs to consistently flow (and if not, well, they can always take B's advice and... release ya job!). Low paying album streams doesn't pay the bills either. And in a rich person's eyes, you can never have too much money because money is power. 

It's unlikely she would get cancelled for this. She received backlash for performing at a super rich Indian  wedding in 2018 and for performing at a Gaddafi family New Year's Eve party in 2009. There have been no serious repercussions, just several scolding's which she is now use to. Besides, Beyoncé gets the last laugh from this. She gets to perform the gayest album of the year in front of the elitist comprising of rich, anti-gay (and possibly closeted) Arab men, all to the tune of... $24 million. Kind of bad ass if you ask me.
