I've never been good at maths. But if you were to analyse Beyoncé‘s album ❝Renaissance❞ using fractions and percentages, it is clear to work out that a higher portion of it is dance. Ears do not lie. At least mine don't. And what I hear is house and dance MOSTLY. Due to Beyoncé‘s album ❝Renaissance❞ being a dance and house record fusing elements of R&B, soul, disco and hip-hop, members of the Recording Academy debated where it should compete. The singer submitted the project for best dance/electronica album at the 2023 Grammys. However, the Recording Academy’s dance committee initially felt that it was better off suited in pop (Nicki Minaj found herself in a similar situation recently). If Bey's album was placed in pop, it would have been nominated for best pop vocal album alongside projects by Adele, Harry Styles, Lizzo and more. Eventually, they DID decide that Beyoncé’s project was in fact eligible to compete in dance. Wise choice.
