Despite not dropping an album in almost seven years, Rihanna is one of the most streamed artists in pop music AND she is one of todays most celebrated musicians. Rihanna is a bonafide hitmaker with an iconic pop career. Who is anyone to downgrade this black woman's contributions to pop music? Dan Patrick tried it. The former SportsCenter anchor does not feel Rihanna was the right choice for the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show: ❝I would’ve chosen Taylor Swift, but Taylor says that she’s gotta wait ’til she re-records all of her albums,❞ said Patrick. ❝I would’ve been curious who she would’ve brought in.❞ The radio personality continued, ❝Rihanna hasn’t done anything, really. Not that much. She’s more of a fashion icon now.❞ But wait. I'm confused. Has there been a rule to say an artist has to be actively releasing music to do the Super Bowl? Rihanna is a perfect fit for the Super Bowl. The NFL have been trying to get her to perform for years. She has an incredible music catalog to entertain a Super Bowl audience and her music comeback is also one of the most anticipated.
