Jennifer Lopez hasn't released a good song in about 15 years.
But that woman had hits for days. She had some serious bops.
She couldn't sing to save her life, but her sexiness and swagger was simply a 10 and she radiated star quality.
She was 29 going on 30 when she started her music career, and a lot of women today would not have sustained longevity if they started out that late. Ashanti on the other hand penned and sung background vocals to some of J.Lo's hits. Jen often use to get ridiculed for lip-synching to a 20-year-old Ashanti's vocals when she was like 33.
Ashanti, who was in her early 20s, had a strangle hold on the game from 2001 to 2003, and it's hard to say whether her hits trump J.Lo's, because put simply, both of them were a force in the early 2000s. Who had the more outstanding music catalog is the real question.
Neither one is a vocalist, Ashanti hasn't had an hit since 2004,Not a fan of Jennifer Lopez music... I will give the WIN to Ashanti. Wealth is going going to Jennifer Lopez, she's up there in the HIGH millions...
ReplyDeleteAshanti sung back up on 2 hits only, stop with this narrative
ReplyDeleteAnyway Jlo
Jlo has hits in RnB, Dance Pop and Latin
Jennifer made those hits come alive with her God given talent: DANCING. I used to enjooooy her videos. Very few can dance as good as she did on her very underrated 'Im Glad' video. Ashanti has never excited me in any way to be honest, I prefer Jennifer's catalog.
ReplyDeleteYouve just gotta watch Ashantis Soul Train performance to know the answer to this. Ashanti all day. Her hits are overall more aligned to my musical tastes than JLo.
ReplyDeleteI probably have more JLo songs because she has a broader catalogue but Ashanti’s music is played on the regular so this is too tough for me. And to be honest, it’s the album cuts and not the singles I bop to on the regular from both women. #imissthe2000s
ReplyDeleteAshanti probably just pips it for me. But in all honesty I don't think there is a "better" music catalog between the two - they have very different catalogs, one will just be preferred more by some people over the other and vice-versa, but they are both very talented artists with equally great songs to their names.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely JLo! Way more versatile (not just in what she does but also in musical genres and styles), more hits, more albums, more memorabele songs too. Great performer!
ReplyDeleteUmmm, Foolish alone kills all of Jlo's catalogue. And then realize Ashanti wrote that. Jlo has not one song with substance that even comes close. Ashanti has anthems, Jlo may have hits, but she's not touching Ashanti.
ReplyDeleteAshanti for me but they cater to two different audiences anyways so it comes down to kind of music you prefer
