During the show, Jennifer performed Aretha Franklin’s ❝Night Life❞ and ❝You Are My Sunshine❞ with Chris Stapleton, in tribute to the late Queen of Soul, whom she portrayed in the biopic ❝Respect.❞ Apparently, Aretha did a few country-esque songs back in the day, and Hudson was there to sing one of those as a tribute. As she made her presence felt on the red carpet, she wore a sheer lace Dolce & Gabbana catsuit and skirt combo with a daring slit and dramatic train. She coordinated the look with fingerless gloves and completed it with silver shoes. I love country music and the artists on the CMA’s, however, neither Jennifer Hudson or Aretha Franklin were country and did not sing country songs. This “woke-ism” was forced onto the show by ABC/Disney. The “afro” hair song by Mickey Guyton was abominable and ruined her career.

The vocals are great as you'd expect, but im not loving the song and id be surprised if it won that Oscar, but id love it to 😄
