Beyoncé debuts ❝Be Alive,❞ her first release of 2021, which soundtracks
the upcoming movie ❝King Richard❞ starring Will Smith.
The empowering anthem samples The Door’s ❝Five to One,❞ which Jay-Z famously sampled on ❝Takeover.❞ The track plays in the emotional final scene of the Venus and Serena Williams biopic, and sounds different from what we heard in the trailer. Alternative versions? The drum-heavy production has a minimalist beat and Beyoncé is doing it ALL with her voice and harmonies. Although the chorus could have punched a bit more, her vocals are sublime.
I don't think I like it, but I agree her vocals are on point.
ReplyDeleteI missed Vocalyonce and I LOVE the vocals on this song but i prefer the trailer version. The beat to me is a little monotonous... 7/10
ReplyDeletesorry didnt move me...
ReplyDelete“I thought it was fun, I liked the beat...”
ReplyDeleteThis version won't win an Oscar because of the sample, so I hope the production on the soundtrack is different. It's not a bad song BUT I don't care for the beat too much!
ReplyDeleteIts a grower people. Shes released a lyric vid with clips from the film. With that context the song works. The relentless, driving production echoes the sentiment and story within the lyrics, the struggle and perseverance. I like it now. I think the film trailer didnt manage our expectations well, so when this track released and sounded markedly different it was a shock. Shocks over. Assignment gets a strong pass from me 😃
