Christina Aguilera performed Tina Turner's ❝River Deep, Mountain High❞ to honor her at last night's
36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.
The 81-year-old icon was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the second time on
Saturday evening (October 30th) at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.
Tina was previously inducted with Ike Turner back in 1991. Christina also honoured her partial namesake in fashion choice too, when she rocked a corset-covered T-Shirt with Tina's face and a caption that read, "Simply the best." While she was being honored, several artists took it in turns to perform a medley of Tina's biggest hits. Tina's impersonator Beyoncé was a no-show despite her husband Jay-Z being an honouree, and her fans are still a little salty that it was Christina that ended up doing the tribute. Too bad. I'll reserve my thoughts when the performance airs November 20th on HBO.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson's performance of Carole King's ❝(You Make Me Feel Like)
A Natural Woman❞ was said to have mesmerized the crowd.
I'm joking. I'm sure she did the best she could with it. The Dream Girls star and King had recently collaborated on a song for the Aretha Franklin biopic. All ticket holders were required to show proof of vaccination (14 days past final vaccination shot) or a negative Covid test within 48 hours of the ceremony.
