Earlier today, People magazine and RollingStone were both forced to remove articles about a Janet Jackson release. They stated how Janet Jackson had confirmed to them that her much anticipated album ‘Black Diamond’ would arrive in January 2022 via her label, Rhythm Nation Records. This date would coincide with her two-night Lifetime documentary event also slated for January.
On the project, she is said to have worked with long-term producers and songwriters Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, as well as founding Earth, Wind & Fire member Ralph Johnson, artist, songwriter and producer Darrell Randle, Siedah Garret and Marcel East. Janet reportedly told People that the lead single will be dropping before the end of 2021. If you click the People link (here), the article no longer exists but you can still see what the URL says.
However, multiple media outlets have picked up the story and the news is out there. It is clear as day what has happened. The PR person handling Janet's rollout told the media to go live sooner than expected. Someone's gettin' fired!
I'm ready for a new album. Unbreakable was disappointing, I don't think I've really enjoyed a Janet album since Damita Jo, so hopefully this will be on par with that, The Velvet Rope and Janet.
ReplyDeleteDamita Jo was banging, and it was blacklisted sadly. Yes I agree, it is the last album that truly delivered.
