Chlöe Bailey’s VMAs performance of ❝Have Mercy❞ was literally a Beyoncé production...

Chlöe’s performance of debut solo single 'Have Mercy' didn't give what it was suppose to. The forced sexy didn't come naturally, and it was like watching a demonic Beyoncé impersonation at a Halloween drag brunch. All of Chlöe’s stage mannerisms were a replica of Beyoncé’s, from the vocals, movements and energy, right down to the facial expressions. It's one thing to be inspired by your mentor, but to straight up copy EVERYTHING like you embarked on a case study is cringe. At some point, Chlöe will need to create a brand outside of copying Bey because we need to see more of HER as a performer.

What was with the stage humping and licking the microphone? No baby no...

  1. @Toya I'm going to be completely honest, Chloe performance did reminded me of Beyonce, she was a little extra tonight, but the vocals was on POINT...
I like NORMANI & she's a GREAT DANCER, However it's very clear she can't SING & she KNOWS that... Basically what I'm trying to say is CHLOE is a Vocalist, NORMANI is a Dancer...Both need some WORK because BOTH performances was just OK.

  2. I'm not disagreeing about the singing differences. In a previous post I said her vocals are up there with Ciara's. No she can't really sing but her performances make up for it in a way that it did for Britney. But Britney had a good ear for music and this girl doesn't sadly.

  3. I think otherwise she did great for being on such a big stage and doing it solo. She doesn’t have stage experience like Normani but she did good as overall performer giving VOCALS and choreography at the same time. Watching her she has the raw energy to be a great performer Beyoncé at Chloe age was not that great of a dancer give her time to evolve and I know she’s gonna gonna be threat. Mark my words

  6. The intro was all her, but as she transitioned into "Have Mercy" the pre recorded vocals kicked in. Her performance was extremely hyper active, which I'm not taking away from but there is absolutely no way that anyone can perform to that capacity unless you are Beyonce... and that is on PERIOD. I'm not taking away from Chloe's skill set because it's obvious she is a great vocalist, producer and performer... she can do it all. Let's be real here, the mic was definitely on, but the vocals were partially live!
