The song isn’t terrible, but it’s not good either. There is no bridge or lyrical substance, and it just feels like she made it simply for the viral effect. I hope her entire album isn't filled with such lyrical fluff and has better material. But maybe she just wants to put out something fun for now just for the TikTok movement and to ensure she gets a hit first. Anyway, Chlöe will perform 'Have Mercy' (produced by Murda Beatz) live for the first time at Sunday’s VMAs. Until then...
I love it... She's giving me Beyonce "Check on it" In 2021...
ReplyDeleteFirst impression - sounds like a poor man's WAP. May grow on me but yeah agree with your assessment of it.
ReplyDeleteI really like it, definitely fun and catchy. I love that her sexuality comes off natural, she seems like she’s having the time of her life. With all the covers she does I’m sure she’ll have some vocal moments on her album. Still not really feeling those blond extensions tho 🤷🏾♂️
ReplyDeleteShe must certainly served looks in the video! But I'm not sold on the delivery of the verses. The hook is the real selling point of the song, which has clearly been popular prior to the songs release.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see her give it the live treatment.
For those of us who have been spoiled with '90s quality RnB this is trash. No thanks, Ill pass. Still waiting for Wild side without Cardi. That I can listen to. I like Ari Lennox' Pressure too.
ReplyDelete@Lauryn - I agree. When Monica, Brandy, Mya, Aaliyah were her age, in fact even younger than her, they were singing songs with substance and emotion. This isn’t it lol
ReplyDeleteThe songs fire. Not every track needs to have lyrical substance and depth. Sometimes its just about giving attitude and setting a mood and this does just that.
