Aaliyah author slams clickbait headlines that claim she was drugged before fatal crash...

Now that we are in the month of Aaliyah's 20th anniversary, more mess has already reared its ugly head. The author of 'Baby Girl: Better Known As Aaliyah' has criticized clickbait headlines stating her new book claims the late singer was drugged and carried onto the plane without her consent (before it crashed and took her life.) Kathy Iandoli says the book is now being taken out of context prior to Kingsley Russell's claims that he saw a member of Aaliyah’s team give her a pill that put her into a deep sleep. While in a deep sleep, he says he witnessed Aaliyah being carried out of a taxi and onto the flight before it crashed. Kingsley, who was 13 at the time, was working as the crew’s baggage handler. 

Apparently, it's been reported she had her objections about getting on the plane, which was too small to carry an overload of luggage. That very plane was being fronted by an inebriated pilot. 

Initial reports state she ignored warnings and was adamant about boarding the plane with the overloaded luggage (which caused the crash). It was also initially reported she had a heart attack before the plane went down and was fully aware of what was happening. Now all of a sudden, she didn't want to board the plane, had been in a deep sleep and died unknowingly. There was no toxicology report stating narcotics was found in her system at the time of her passing. If the book does in fact say this, the author could be looking at a possible lawsuit. Let's respect her memory and not make-up lies, or half truths just to sell a book. The real truth? No one will ever know what really happened on that ill-fated day.

Considering this is supposed to be the month to celebrate Aaliyah, taking a story out of context from my book was not the way to begin it. Further, these rumors are now messing with Aaliyah’s name, calling her a “junkie” which also wasn’t true.
