'Freedom Day' delayed | So near but yet so far

At a Downing Street briefing earlier today, Boris Johnson delayed 'Freedom Day' (June 21st) by another four weeks (July 19th). This is to prevent up to 500 deaths a day after scientists warned the Indian Covid variant could be 80 percent more infectious. He acknowledges that the disease will never be fully 'eliminated' and that the country will have to learn to "live with it." But he said he needed to "give the NHS a few more crucial weeks." And then July 19th will come round and more delays will be announced because a "different" variant is running rampant or they have not reached the 90% of the whole population recieving their second jab.
