Rihanna "stole my fashion concepts" says Selah Marley...

Lauryn Hill’s daugther Selah Marley accuses Rihanna’s recent Savage X Fenty presentation of copying her concept from a fashion show she put together in 2019. It needs to be noted that both shows use the forest/jungle concept, which universally is not an original concept to begin with.

Nothing is 100% original in the art business. Many visionaries build their own concept and vision using someone else's work. That's literally what art has been for many, many decades. The difference being, Rihanna is a much bigger artist with a much bigger budget and unlimited resources to fully execute her vision on a wider scale platform. Is Selah just upset because Rihanna's show received mainstream critical acclaim? Or would she have felt the same way if an underground artist (like herself) had used a similar concept?

Quite a few friends brought this up to me & I wasn’t gonna say anything about this, but I’m bothered. For those who remember, I did “A Primordial Place” in May 2019.. I put my heart & soul (& all the money I had) into this project and.... I don’t know. Is it just me? As a young, independent, female black artist, I genuinely feel robbed. I’m not signed to any label.. I don’t have any investors. I just have myself & the people who support me. It took A LOT to pull this together & to see it replicated almost exactly with no mention of my name or the work I previously put in is just ridiculous. The first photo is the recent Savage x Fenty show. The other photos are A Primordial Place. What do you think?

  1. Rihanna launched Savage Fenty in 2018 with a Jungle Rainforest type theme. This girl is reaching for the stars 🙄 You can find videos on YouTube.
