It's funny how Mariah Carey has held this decade plus vendetta against Jennifer Lopez for "stealing" the 'Firecracker' sample. Mariah's ex-husband Tommy Mottola (who was extremely powerful at that time) used undermined tactics to block Mariah releasing it for 'Loverboy.' In doing so, he ensured J.Lo could use and release it for 'I'm Real' instead. Guess things happen for a reason and Jen actually did MC a favour. Reason being, this Firecracker sample below is messy, and J.Lo's usage of it actually made for a better song. Mariah's new compilation album 'The Rarities' was officially released today.

I agree Toya! This is what all the hoopla was about for damn near 20 years? I love Mariah Carey, but she needs the musical guidance of a Jermaine Dupri/LA Ried. Tommy & J-Lo did her a favor. Hell, Amerie has a more reasonable gripe, fighting for 1 Thing than Mariah being petty over this weak ass sample.
It does now fee like the remix to the version we know. I actually love the cameo version so its fine but it is nice to hear what is was supposed to sound like. However i think the point of this was just to give us prove on how Tommy was sabotaging her. If you read the book you’ll get it. Are you gonna read the book Toya?:)

I'm going to treat myself to the book at Christmas so I can spend the entire holidays reading it. As of now I just wouldn't be able to find the time to read it as I have been so busy.
