No Beyoncé performance for Ghana, says her rep.

Yet Tina was spotted in the Motherland.
It's been rumoured for a while now that Beyoncé would be one of many performers due to perform in Ghana this weekend for the culmination of the Year of Return.

The event marks the 400th anniversary of the start of the transatlantic slave trade. However, Bey's longtime publicist Yvette Noel-Schure confirms the singer will not perform at the Afro Nation festival in Ghana today despite many rumors saying she would be a surprise headlining act. The rep shut down those rumors with the quickness now that it started picking up pace again. And the reason why those rumours started picking up pace again is because Bey's mother Tina Knowles is already in Ghana and was spotted in Ghana for the New Year's celebrations.

Here is some video footage of Tina dancing with locals at the airport in Ghana yesterday:
This seems like a major event, so no surprises that Beyoncé's name was thrown out there to drum up interest, even if this was done to mislead people for PR purposes. Still, if Tina is currently in Ghana, what are the chances that Beyoncé is also around somewhere, and puts in an appearance at some point?
