Underprivileged children from poor communities deserve a good future just as much as those who grew up better off. Mariah grew up poor. She knows how it feels to not have much options, which is the reason why Camp Mariah exists. Thankfully for her, she had a major talent which she utilized to the best of her ability. Some would say she has that demon of an ex-husband to thank for her astonishing career. That might be true about Tommy Mottola, but another label head honcho would have picked her up easily with an extraordinary voice like hers.
