Christina Aguilera performs 'Stormy Weather' live

Christina Aguilera's 'Stormy Weather' performance was a really great effort on her behalf.
The ABC special titled, 'Taking The Stage' celebrates African-American music and stories that changed America. The event was broadcast last night on ABC and filmed at a Washington D.C. gala last September.

Christina's vocals were a bit choppy in certain areas, but the raspy tone of her lower register really complimented the song's musical style. It's not something I would want to hear from her on an entire album, but in this case, it was fitting. The very album I'm talking about is the one she's been recording since 2014. Didn't she say we would hear something from her in 2016? If she doesn't drop an album this year, I think a lot of people will be turning in their stan card. I get that she's a mother, and her priorities have changed, but waiting 4-5 years to put out another album is really unacceptable and pushing it thin in my opinion.

Time waits for no one in this day and age. It's probably why she previously felt threatened by Lady Gaga back in the day. She took a lengthy break, tried to make a comeback and discovered that the new kid on the block had taken her place. And when she tried to release 'Bionic' (and further follow-ups after that), it tanked. Don't keep saying "new music is coming later this year", and then the year ends and nothing happens. If her heart isn't in it anymore, she should just do the right thing and retire music altogether (same applies to Britney, but she did make a contrasting effort last year).
