Solange scores her first ever number one album on the Billboard 200 chart. 'A Seat At The Table' beats out Bon Iver’s '22, A Million', which debuted at number two (58,000 in pure album sales and 71,000 units overall).
Solange's album sold 46,000 copies in pure sales and 72,000 equivalent album units overall. Solange scoring the number one album also means she and sister Beyoncé now join the elite group of siblings with number one albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Previously, this feat was achieved by Michael Jackson and his sister Janet. Notably, Solange and Beyoncé both earned number one albums in the same calendar year, just as Michael and Janet did in 2001 (with 'Invincible' and 'All For You', respectively). Beyoncé's latest album 'Lemonade' topped the chart earlier this year. Congratulations to Solange for debuting at number one and thank you for gifting the world with such a beautiful and influential body of work. The new chart will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, October 11th.
