Lady Gaga's new heartbreak single 'Perfect Illusion' is here, and unfortunately, it's anything but perfect.
Produced by Gaga with Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Blood Pop, Perfect Illusion’s bid for comeback single-worthiness falls short. Gaga hasn't quite gotten over her obsession with 80's nostalgia. The pop/rock fusion lacks a melody, and gets really repetitive. The excessive repeating of the song title grates. She clearly tried to show off new vocal tricks, only to deliver pure growling instead. This might be a 'grower' after a few more listens, but my mind is made up already.
Gaga has been in the studio working on the follow-up to 2013’s 'ARTPOP.'
