Rihanna is set to receive the
Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
This prestigious honour is for her “decade-long impact on music, pop culture, fashion, film, and philanthropy.” Previous Vanguard recipients include
Madonna, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, and
Kanye West. Congratulations! Ri is one of today's biggest pop stars who has impacted popular culture in a major way. Her Vevo (9 billion) is the second most viewed YouTube channel (after
Biebs) and she is one of the most followed celebrities on social media.
She has also broken multiple Billboard records and we've seen the growth in her artistry. Rihanna has lots of amazing videos, and a long catalogue of pop hits. I can't wait to see her performance, especially if it's a compilation of her greatest hits!
