Janet Jackson scores historic seventh #1 album on Billboard 200 + preps 3 year plan...

Janet Jackson's comeback album 'Unbreakable' is simply that. Unbreakable. She becomes the third act to achieve number one albums in each of the last four decades (the other two being Barbra Streisand and Bruce Springsteen).
Her seventh studio effort, which topped the Billboard 200, sold 116,000 equivalent album units (109,000 in pure album sales.) She's also the first black artist to achieve a number one album in four consecutive decades!

The legendary singer ranks as the third woman with the most number one albums after Barbra with ten and Madonna with eight. Those sales are very impressive for the little amount of promo outside of her 'Unbreakable' tour. Massive congrats! In related news, BMG exec Jon Cohen reveals in a new interview with Hits Daily Double that the album will receive a three year marketing plan. In doing so, Janet and BMG are partnering with multimedia company Bertelsmann to initiate the lengthy process.

A lot of artists pull the promo plug on their projects after the second or third single. With an album as good as 'Unbreakable,' it's good to see Janet is determined not to let her hard work go to waste.

Female acts with the most #1 albums on the Billboard 200:
1. Barbra Streisand 10
2. Madonna 8
3. Janet Jackson 7
4. Mariah Carey & Britney Spears 6
