The floodgates have been left wide open ever since Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke lost their copyright case against Marvin Gaye's family. Case in point, Jermaine Dupri has now accused Ciara’s latest single 'I Bet' as being a “complete rip-off” of Usher’s 2001 hit 'U Got It Bad.'
Dupri who co-produced the song with Bryan-Michael Cox
claims he, Usher and Cox all noticed the similarities immediately. He claims the cut also sounds like Tamia’s 'Still' which he also produced. JD plans to get in touch with Ciara and the producers to seek proper credit for the song. Sounds like someone is trying to get paid. The only problem is that he would lose. Both songs do have similar chord progressions (something found in many midtempo R&B songs of a throwback nature). However, the verses are quite different, so to say the song is a rip-off is reaching!
