I love urban Christina. I'm so amped about the descriptions Da Internz have hatched up for her upcoming new record! They describe it as "that gourmet ratchet... upper echelon music with ratchet hood drums” and “14K caviar ratchet served on gold platters.” The Chicago hitmakers also produced Rihanna's 'Birthday Cake' so in hindsight, this would actually be a very interesting direction for her to go in musically.
Christina has done urban-laced tracks before but she's never graced those powerhouse vocals over a gritty ratchet southern beat. I always felt that her urban songs were never quite urban enough. They always had a pop under layering to them like 'Dirrty' (featuring Redman) and 'WooHoo' (featuring Nicki Minaj). Everyone has been going to DJ Mustard for that similar sound but this one could smash. Christina’s new album, the follow-up to 2012’s Lotus, is due later this year and she will be launching the new season of NBC's The Voice in February.
