Remember Alexandra Burke? Back in 2012, the former X Factor champ faced an epic blacklisting when Radio 1 and Capital FM (two of UK's biggest radio stations), refused to play her songs. She had just discovered that her boyfriend cheated and her album 'Heartbreak on Hold' sold a lackluster 6,000 copies in its first week. She self-released her first '#NewRules' EP in 2013, and last year, parted ways with her management team.
It hasn't been all doom and gloom though. She's enjoyed a flourishing career in broadway playing Whitney Houston's character Rachel Marron in West End show 'The Bodyguard Musical.' Now she's ready to give this music thing a real shot with her upcoming EP ‘Renegade’ (as announced today) and a full length studio album.
"It’s been a crazy few months for me as I’ve been in the studio writing and recording my EP and album" she wrote before giving us a little more insight behind the EP. Why radio blacklisted her music remains a mystery. Her music is uninspiring but it's nothing that we haven't heard from the likes of Katy Perry and Cheryl Cole, who always seem to get full backing.
