Apparently, Play.com has Rihanna's new album listed for December 26th.
The retailer made the standard and deluxe edition available for pre-order at a cost of £13.98. Sounds too good to be true right? I don't think it's legit to be honest. There's no way she can pull off a Beyoncé-style release without a hit single.
She is not a big first week seller when pulling albums. In fact, she solely relies on hit records to sustain an album's longevity. Those albums always reach platinum status in the long run.
Jay Z was pictured at her album playback last week and she was seen as recently as this week heading to a recording studio. This could either mean she is wrapping up loose ends OR she's still recording new tracks. The year will be over in 8 weeks time, so if she's planning to release this year, she is going to need to drop a new single within the next week or two. It just seems very risky dropping a single and then the album almost simultaneously. Would she even have enough time to promote it? Seems risky, but we will just have to see how this all pans out.
