Marvin Gaye's family are coming to collect some serious coin.
Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have lost their fight against the Gaye family, after a California judge ruled that they made a sufficient showing that elements of 'Blurred Lines' may be substantially similar to 'Got To Give It Up.' The judge found substantial similarity of signature phrases, hooks and bass lines.
Similarities in keyboard
chords, harmonic structures and vocal melodies of the two songs were also found (read the full story here).
A trial is currently scheduled for February 10th, 2015. Whether or not the soulful crooner has thicke skin to shake this off, somewhere, somehow, the female population rejoices.
