Rihanna to sing 'Run This Town' as theme song for NFL...
Is Rihanna's candidacy for the Superbowl 2015 halftime show almost a done deal? CBS Sports and the NFL Network are having a Thursday Night Football opening next week, which will include 'Run This Town' sung by Rihanna.
It would have been more exciting had she just recorded a brand new song for the night games. However, I can see why the song was chosen. Not only is it a great song, but it also has a very similar concept to the one used previously.
It's highly likely that Rihanna may have re-recorded the song and perhaps tweaked the lyrics a little. I guess we'll find out next week Thursday. This was last year's Thursday Night Football Theme song:
“This open
combines one of music’s biggest stars with one of the most dynamic
actors in Hollywood. The energy that both talents provide gives the
opening to every Thursday night the big-game, primetime feel it
deserves. It is a dream scenario for any director” - Pete Radovich
The opening, which will feature narration from Don Cheadle, was filmed in an airplane hangar. It was produced and directed by 28-time Emmy Award-winning producer Pete Radovich, who serves as CBS Sports’ creative director.
The 16-game Thursday Night Football schedule kicks off on September 11th with the Steelers vs. Ravens from Baltimore and ends with a Week 16 Saturday doubleheader on December 20th (source) (source).
