Maybe... not so much the artist unfortunately, but the label, who then go on to have low-key meetings and discussions on whether to give that artist another chance or to drop them from their roster completely. That always sucks, but it happens.
Examples include Capitol Records stopping funding of LeToya Luckett's 'Lady Love' album after lukewarm sales. She had to fight hard to get a third video for her Ludacris assisted single 'Regret.' Also, Ciara had to fund her own music video after Jive failed to support her under-performing album, 'Basic Instinct.'
It's the labels that decide it's a waste of time spending more money on additional videos if it won't resurrect their under-performing projects. That's probably the best part about being independent, as Ashanti is realising.
She is gearing up to release the visuals for her French Montana assisted new single 'Early In The Morning' in October, which is lifted off her latest album 'Braveheart.' The behind-the-scenes pics show her in sexy lingerie while rocking big retro hair. Now that's what I call some real passion!
