A new interview with Variety magazine confirms that Britney Spears has renewed her recording contract with RCA Records. The article reads: "Earlier this year she re-upped with RCA Records, which had inherited her contract from former affiliate Jive years ago." Britney adds:
“In my off-time I do record. Once in a while I’ll just go into the studio if there’s a really good song that I have in my head and want to do.”
“I think as artists you’re constantly in creative motion. If I stopped writing songs then that’s a part of me that would stop in my life, and I need constant motion… I’m definitely more in a creative space now. You have more time to go there spiritually in your home with a piano than you would being in a hotel room.”
This is actually a surprise. I was expecting her to retire and pop out some more kids. I think she should. Whether or not this is good news solely lies on whether she has found the anticipation and drive to deliver solid records. This era, her heart clearly wasn't in it and it seems the album's ONLY focus was to plug her Vegas shows.
It's just too hilarious that she was promoting this as her best album due to it being her most personal. She had will.i.am executive produce the entire thing, so of course the quality of the music would suffer. We ended up with a tragic album like 'Britney Jean.' In fact, the album was so bad I ask myself how much of a creative input she really had in it. The Britney I know had an amazing ear for music and fans were just left wondering where it all went wrong. I've given up on her performances but it's certainly not too late to bow out with a really great pop album.
