The change could see all countries issuing new releases on a Friday, set to be implemented in July 2015. "This global street date is necessary for the industry but unfortunately it will be awkward for the physical retailers to change their ways of doing business," says one label executive. No offense to Beyoncé's impact, but this will not be good for the industry. They fail to grasp the concept that no matter when an album gets released, it WILL still be pirated, and Australia will still get it first. People will just go on bootlegged downloading sprees on Saturdays instead. The moral of the story is, if the album is solid and well marketed, people will support it regardless.
