Whitney Houston biopic to be directed by Angela Bassett...

Relentless discussion to bring Whitney Houston’s life to the big/small screen has been an ongoing process since she passed away prematurely in 2012. Actress Angela Bassett is set to direct Lifetime’s upcoming filmography on the life of late pop singer.

With a simple working title of 'Whitney Houston,' the film is set for a 2015 debut and will reportedly tackle the years she was married to fellow R&B singer Bobby Brown. “I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett in a statement. 

Everyone from Meagan Good, to Vivicia Fox and even Rihanna, have all had their names attached to play the iconic diva. I can see why Rihanna would be chosen because of her abusive past with Chris Brown so in a way, she can relate to Whitney's story. 

Case in point, it wasn't too long ago they were both deemed the new Whitney and Bobby due to their unhealthy relationship. Rihanna may not have had Whitney's astonishing vocal prowess but neither did Angela Bassett when she portrayed Tina Turner. 

In fact, Angela lipsynced to Tina's vocals in the movie so singing would not be an issue. It's how well the actress carries out the role which would be of bigger significance. No casting has been announced for the film, but WHO would your pick be?
