How exciting is this? Prince returns to Warner Bros. Records after nearly 20 years. A new partnership will involve the release of unreleased material, as well as a brand new album. A press release by Warner, states that under their new agreement the company will release previously unheard material and a digitally remastered, deluxe 30th anniversary edition of his 1984 soundtrack to 'Purple Rain'.
This deal benefits the icon greatly as it grants him ownership and control over the master recordings of his Warner Bros. catalog, something they were in dispute over throughout the years. In recent times, he's dropped a couple of new records including 'Breakfast Can Wait', 'Da Bourgeoisie', 'Groovy Potential' and more.
This year will be the comeback for legends, hopefully!
