Rumour has it, she's been suffering from thyroid problems for years. It certainly doesn't help her case that she has an unhidden love for the booze.
It must suck for her battling with her fluctuating weight so publicly when the release of her album is so near. I have never come across an artist as insecure as Mariah, and if she had her way, the album would not be dropping at all.
