On the music tip, Fergie admits she’s always working on it, but a break was necessary.
“It was time for me to get a little break and have my kid. I feel like I’m in my cave right now. I’m watching and listening. I’m kind of doing what I did before I was in the Black Eyed Peas, I’m studying what’s out there … I’m just marinating on all my ideas right now. I’m also signed to [Will.i.am's] imprint on Interscope, 'I am Music', so he knows I want to do a solo album next. My first solo record was comprised of songs that were from a seven year period, a lot of people don’t know that. So I’ve been writing down my ideas. I’ve been just in my little creative cave and the ideas come when they come and that’s the beauty of it. It’s so not forced so when I do come out with my album, I’m going to be really proud of it.”I've been vying for a second solo album from this chick for years ('The Duchess' was amazing), but she shunned a solo return to put out dire records with the Black Eyed Peas. I'm kind of sad that she didn't strike while the iron was still hot because now her popularity may have decelerated a little. And as Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez have discovered, releasing a hit album at 40 has become more challenging than ever. We'll see how it all pans out.
