Melanie Amaro performs 'Long Distance' on 'X Factor' special...

It's been almost TWO years since Melanie Amaro "won" the first season finale of 'X Factor USA'.

Despite not EVER releasing her debut album, the young powerhouse belted out her failed single 'Long Distance' on the TV special 'X Factor Around the World'. The special took place last night in Indonesia (August 24th), and Melanie was one of several former 'X Factor' contestants (alongside UK runner-up Jahmene Douglas and Australian winner Samantha Jade) to perform on the show. For the rest of her days, Melanie is going to have to live with the painful fact that... she is the biggest failure to EVER come from a reality talent show.

Most flops can say they released an album and then got dropped AFTERWARDS. But getting dropped from 'Epic' Records without putting out an album pretty much takes the biscuit and not something you'd want to brag about to the grandchildren. She won the biggest prize in history for any talent show winner - $5 million dollars. Yet, none of her singles managed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

With Melanie's "epic" failure and last years winner Tate Stevens being dropped from Sony Nashville, the winning amount has now been dropped to a modest $1 million dollars. This is some serious proof that 'X Factor USA' does not create stars (with its poor ratings, how the hell did it even get a third season anyway?). It was kind of a sticky deal with Melanie because although she has an amazing vocal range, she had zero star quality and yes, putting out crappy music that didn't suit her, did not help her case either.
Thoughts?
